Ontario, once in energy surplus, is now facing a supply-demand gap that requires new resources to support the growing demand for electricity in the province. To address these needs, the Independent Electricity System Operator (“IESO”) has launched the Long-Term Request for Proposals (LT1-RFP), the second in a series of capacity procurements being undertaken to competitively secure 2,518 MW of capacity from dispatchable new build resources to be online and operational no later than May 2028.
